Pipeline Service - PSP plot

Date

Hours Range

For more information about each observatory, see the Observatory Information table.

Pre-defined options are straight East-West pipeline, straight North-South pipeline, pipeline with one bend or pipeline with 5 sections. Total length of each sample pipeline is described below, electrical properties and dimensions are default values and can only be modified by selecting a custom pipeline.

Terminating Impedances
Starting end

Ending end

Terminating impedances at the ends of pipeline are necessary for PSP calculations. They can be chosen from values below or custom-defined in Ohms.Low terminating impedance means good connection to the ground at the end of pipeline or can also mean continuation of the pipeline beyond the modelling length. Low values of terminating impedances are chosen for both ends by default. High terminating impedance means good insulation from the ground at the end of pipeline.

Pipeline Dimensions
Section Lengths (km) and Directions (degree)

The following section allows the user to build a pipeline. If a section is removed, this may cause lost of focus for users using screen readers. We therefore recommend selecting the Turn on table focus option to allow the focus to be brought back to the previous pipeline section. We offer this as an option because, for some users, the change of focus may cause confusion.

Cathodic Protection (CP)

The fixed scale is determined from the maximum positive and negative variations for all components. The auto scale is determined from the variation of each component.

Screen reader users select "Accessible HTML Table" format.
